Men's Fierce Flame Bowling
What is bowling? Bowling is a sport in which players attempt to score points by rolling a bowling ball along a flat surface either into objects called pins or to get close to a target ball. There are many forms of bowling, with one of the most recent being ten-pin bowling and the earliest dating back to ancient Egypt.Other places where bowling was first seen were ancient Finland and Yemen, and in 300 A.D. in Germany. The first standardized rules were established in New York City, on September 9, 1895. Today, bowling is enjoyed by 95 million people in more than ninety countries worldwide and continues to grow through entertainment mediums such as video games for home consoles and hand held devices.
Recently bowling as a sport has been gaining in popularity. More teams are forming around the country as people of all ages take up the sport of bowling. There are bowling alleys in almost every town and many people are bringing the entire family to the bowling alley to learn how to bowl.
Although bowling is a lot of fun, one part of bowling that many people don’t care for is community shoes. Most bowling alleys offer a special type of shoe for bowling called the bowling shoe. This is to protect the specially waxed floors in place to bowl successfully. The shoe itself isn’t the part many people find unnerving, it is the fact that the shoes are rented and shared. They are called community shoes because anyone can rent these shoes at the bowling alley for a small charge. Some bowling alleys try to give the image of sanitizing the shoe by spraying the shoe with deodorizing spray or disinfectant spray. This does little more than freshen the smell of the shoe for the next player.
If you are like a lot of people you may find renting the community bowling shoe undesirable. Some people have even complained of contracting athlete’s foot from the shoes although this is unlikely. There are other options available to you thanks to the latest interest in bowling. Sport clothing, accessory and shoe stores are now offering bowling shoes for sale. If you are an avid bowler this may be the best option for you.
When you have decided to purchase a pair of bowling shoes there are some things you should keep in mind. Looking at the tread and the grip of the shoe is important. Depending on the amount of grip you want you can pick among different amounts, but keep in mind the amount you are used to. The grip may affect your game so you might want to look at the shoes you have worn in the past to decide which one worked best for your game.
Other than grip, tread and comfort the only thing left to look for is your favorite style. There are more colors and styles available than ever before. You should easily find a pair of bowling shoes to fit your style.
If you bowl regularly or plan on joining a bowling league, you may want to purchase bowling shoes of your own. If you can stand the community bowling shoes, don’t go bowling very often or don’t mind spending the extra money you can simply rent bowling shoes from the bowling alley. Whichever way you choose to go it is important not to wear street shoes when bowling or you can cause damage to the floors.Bowling shoes are made for use on the waxed specialty flooring that bowling alleys are famous for.

How to Choose the Best Bowling Shoes?
*
Step 1
The first step in choosing bowling shoes is to decide on your style. Are you going for a retro bowling shoe look, a classic look, or a hot shoe that will make you the envy of the bowling alley? Are you a serious bowler who wants to look professional or are you just into the look of the rental shoe and want to take that style to the street? Doe you need a universal shoe or are you looking for a high performance shoe with slides that you can change to fit your game?
*
Step 2
You will need to decide where you would like to buy the shoe. Will you be shopping for your bowling shoe online? This option will allow you a wider variety of styles and more competitive prices and is best for the casual bowler. If you are a serious bowler, I would suggest going to your local pro shop so that you can try on the shoe. Your styles will be limited but you will be able to feel how the shoes will fit your feet and how you will be able to bowl in them.
*
Step 3
Are you a right handed or left handed bowler? Some bowling shoes are universal, meaning they are made for either the left or right handed bowler. These will be the bowling shoes to choose if you are a casual bowler. The more serious bowler will look for a high performance shoe. For the most part, bowling shoes are made to accommodate the right handed bowler with more of a slide on the bottom of the left foot and a traction sole for the right foot. The slide is often times a feature that you can change depending on your game. On a serious shoe, the slide is Velcro on the bottom of the shoe. It can be taken off and replaced depending on how much of a slide your game requires. The slides are available on a scale ranging from one to ten with ten being the highest level of slide. The heal is often times also adjustable to your gaming needs. You can choose a break heel if you want more of a break.

Step 4
Remember that with bowling shoes, fit is so very important. If your shoes do not fit right, you will not be able to play your best.
How to Care for Bowling Shoes?
*
Step 1
Disinfect your shoes after each use. Doing so is a very simple process, and takes less than 1 minute to accomplish. Loosen the laces and pull up the tongue as far as you can. Using any name-brand disinfectant spray, spray a light mist throughout the inside of the shoe. Use any towel or washcloth to completely dry the inside of the shoe when you’ve finished spraying.
*
Step 2
Use cold water and a damp cloth to clean the sides and bottom of your shoes. Soap shouldn’t be necessary, since there should not be any dirt on your bowling shoes. Soak the cloth and then wring out all the excess water, so the cloth is only slightly damp. Wipe off the sides and bottom of your shoes, avoiding the slide strip. Dry the shoes with a towel or place them in front of a fan when you’re finished.
*
Step 3
Wipe the slide strip of your bowling shoe gently with a cloth that is just barely damp. Rubbing along the slide strip could damage it beyond repair. You can also use a very small amount of polish if you wish.
*
Step 4
Purchase a powder bag from a bowling alley or pro shop and rub the bag on the sole of the shoe. Doing so will improve the slide of the shoe and keep you from “tripping up” while on the lane. Only use the powder that is sold at these shops, though. Otherwise, you could damage the bottom of your bowling shoe.
Best Bowling Shoes:
When we first start bowling, we wear those funny looking rented bowling shoes with wacky colors and big shoestrings. I liken them to a pair of clown shoes, only I don’t want to look like a clown when I bowl. Even the bowling shoes you buy look a little different, but at least 1000’s of other people haven’t worn them before you. The top brands among bowling shoes are ABS, Brunswick, BSI, Circle Athletics, Dexter, Dyno-Thane, Ebonite, Elite, and Etonic.
